My name is Tracy Wilford and I am a qualified counsellor registered with the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP). I have practiced, on a voluntary basis, for a Gloucestershire based counselling agency for several years. As a recently retired Civil Servant I am now in a position to offer private counselling appointments. I work within the guidelines of the BACP’s Ethical Framework for Good Practice. I have experience of working one-to-one with clients presenting with a range of issues, e.g. stress, depression, anxiety, bereavement, grief, loss, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, loneliness, and physical illness.

I am based in the therapy rooms at Head to Toe Health at Cassin Drive in Cheltenham.

What is counselling?

There are times in most of our lives when we experience difficulties which we cannot overcome on our own. Seeking help from our family and friends may be beneficial but sometimes our difficulties are too painful or too embarrassing to discuss with those closest to us. At times like this it may be helpful to talk with a trained counsellor.

What does a counsellor do?

A counsellor is trained to listen; they will provide you with a safe place where you can talk confidentially about your feelings. They will help you to explore your difficulties and identify the things in your life that are causing you concern. They will not judge you or give you advice. They will work with you to help you overcome your difficulties, become more self-aware, and to move forward in your life

Talking with a counsellor in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment can help with difficulties associated with relationship breakdown, stress, anxiety, depression, bereavement and loss, low self-confidence, personal development and more. My aim is to create that environment for my clients to explore and overcome their issues.
I am trained in Person-Centred and Cognitive Behavioural Therapies and will integrate these theoretical approaches to deliver a service tailored to meet my clients’ needs. I regularly review my practice during monthly supervision sessions which supports my own individual growth and keeps my clients’ interests at the heart of my practice.
